Meet the Groundsman 🌱
Meet Justin Winter
Justin has overseen the playing field for the mens team and been our dedicated groundsman for over 20 years. His obsession with grass started as a child, and he’s turned that passion into a career, ensuring our pitches are always in top condition. "A good pitch is the foundation of a great game," says Justin. He holds several certifications in turf management and has a wealth of experience that he brings to our club every day. He has only been working on the pitches at the Flitch since June and you can already see the improvement.

Pitch Maintenance Process 🛠️
Maintaining top-quality pitches is a year-round job. Here's how Justin keeps our pitches in perfect shape:
Regular Maintenance: Justin mows the grass twice a week during the growing season, keeps the grass at the optimal height for soccer, and ensures the pitch is regularly watered.
Seasonal Care: In the spring and fall, Justin aerates the soil to promote healthy root growth and overseeds to fill in any bare spots. He applies fertilizers to keep the grass lush and green.
Challenges: Weather can be a big challenge, especially heavy rain or drought conditions. Justin stays ahead of these issues with proactive measures like installing drainage systems and using water-saving techniques during dry spells.
